This villa, designed for the promoters of a well-known chain of diagnostics centres is set within a beautifully landscaped, half-acre property in Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills locality. The design language of the built-form as well as the interiors is unapologetically modern, but at the same time possesses a certain enduring beauty that’s resilient to the vagaries of stylistic trends. The plush, immersive interiors are articulated using a bouquet of rich materials and elements: veneer, timber, Italian marble and leather, striking chandeliers from Prague, furniture from Milan and arresting art.

The intrinsic beauty of the materials is further amplified with surface finishing techniques that lend textural drama to the spatial compositions. The programme includes two living rooms: one reserved for formal entertaining and the other that welcomes family and friends for close-knit congregations. The unexpected and surprising material application strategy is seen in the ceilings: one is lined with wood, and the other with woven leather. While the entire villa is cocooned in nature, the rooms on the ground floor enjoy a special connection to the outdoors through decks that segue into green spaces. A double-height, light-filled volume on this level evokes the traditional courtyard, and is dramatised through beautiful chandeliers. Of the four bedrooms, two are designed as master suites with commodious sleeping areas and equally spacious bathrooms.

The Reddy residence stands testimony to the skills of the Indian craftsman. While the materials have been procured from Europe, they have been worked upon and installed by BMA’s talented workforce of wood-workers, stone masons and other craftsmen who were deployed to Hyderabad for this assignment.  The end result is an impeccable, plush, luxurious, contemporary and timeless residence.
