The assignment entailed designing the interiors of a three-generation family home in South Delhi, in the upscale Panchsheel Enclave locality. The canvas is luxurious: 20,000 sq ft, spread over ground + three storeys. The brief spelt out by the discerning family, prominent professionals from the judicial system, indicated their preference for a minimalist, contemporary home. This was articulated as crisp, clean compositions with European — specifically Italian — sensibilities and a light, tone-on-tone colour direction.
The airy interiors, suffused with whites, creams and beiges, are accented with black though hardware and lighting fixtures. The rich, luxurious materiality features the creamy, pinkish Estremos Portuguese marble on the floor, complemented by walls clad in light wood tones. Elegant furniture, curated from across a spectrum of premium European brands, populates this refined shell. Lighting plays a significant role in place-making: technical lights and mood lights, procured from Spain, colour the residential canvas with a variety of moods, from bright and brisk to soft and romantic.
The spatial programme features a formal living room, a family room with a large dining table, a serene temple room, large hall ways and a beautiful staircase. The expansive study, with its superior video conferencing technology, creates a conducive setting for conducting meetings and attending to legal matters virtually. Bedrooms include two large master suites that have their own seating lounges and a sliding door that separates the sleeping and seating functionalities. With their state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings geared towards sensorial bathing experiences, the expansive ensuite bathrooms are designed to help the occupants unwind after their busy schedules.
