Whitefield, Banglore, India

InterContinental Group’s 300-key Whitefield property is slated to be its Indian flagship. Currently a work in progress, it will largely service the software parks and glocal IT players with a presence in the vicinity. The design of the hotel reflects the significance of the property for the group. The stellar attraction will be the massive atrium, soaring to a height of 12 storeys and forming the heart of the hotel. All the 300 rooms and corridors look into this enormous central feature — which is the primary congregational space with seating islands and lounges. Overall, the design language of the hotel follows the path of subtle sophistication with lavish materiality and textural surfaces applied in an understated manner. The guests rooms are spacious and comfortable, rendered in a soothing palette of grey and mushroom and accented with black. The styling is crisp, clean and contemporary, designed to resonate with the modern sensibilities of the technologically-aware audience. Large artworks uphold and intensify the plush vibe.

The F&B entities are designed to provide a variety of options to the guests, both gastronomically and visually. The all-day dining, sited in the atrium, is lush with vegetation, partly single height and partly flowing into the soaring central well. Together, the lobby bar and the all-day dining provide a well-rounded offering to the guest. A pan-asian restaurant with immersive, nuanced interiors also forms part of the F&B brigade near the atrium. Catering to a younger audience is another large bar, styled with grungy-chic interiors. This pub/brewery-like space has indoor and outdoor sections. Treading a different stylistic path, the patisserie, light-filled and airy, is articulated as a glass box.
