This home in South Mumbai, designed for a prominent real estate developer, is rendered in a detailed, classical style, far removed from the prevailing modern/minimal aesthetic. A triplex occupying the penthouse levels of the family home, this upscale home enjoys remarkable views: on one side is the Haji Ali stretch with the Coastal Road development and the Arabian Sea beyond; on the other is the green expanse of the Mahalaxmi Race Course. Activities include a double-height living room, a massive dining area, a movie theatre, a spa treatment room, study rooms, meeting rooms, sprawling master bedrooms, a children’s room, a regular daily kitchen (industrial type), a show kitchen for occasional cooking by family members. and decks all around.

Materiality embraces the refined: richly patterned marbles, warm timbers, cut and fluted glass, leather and metals. Material applications are generous, with textural patterns and grains being allowed to fully display their beauty. Glazed expanses are highlighted with delicate metal accents, and invite the skyline to become part of the spatial experience.
