At 135 rooms, Jaisalmer Marriott Resort & Spa has a more intimate scale than its sister property in Jaipur. Architecturally, it embodies a pared-down version of the ornate Rajasthani palace style, the minimalist form echoing the austere, sweeping lines of the region’s sand dunes. By leveraging the design studio’s strength and skill in creating more with less, the Jaisalmer project successfully delivered a high-end luxury look on a strict budget. This was achieved through employing tome-on-tone colours and small yet impactful and well-crafted details. Lighting, a relatively low-cost design component, played a large role in creating a heightened, upscale spatial experience. So impactful was the result of these strategies that the original decision of placing the property in the mid-priced band was revisited and changed to positioning it in the luxury segment.
