The design of the VIP floor for India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry headquarters, Vanijya Bhavan in New Delhi, was awarded to Bobby Mukherrji Architects. Completed in 2022 and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the firm was responsible for creating the official spaces for key officials, including the Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Minister of State. The design also encompassed the high-profile conference and meeting rooms intended for discussions with both Indian and foreign delegates.
This extensive 40,000 sq. ft. space showcases a modern interpretation of Indian classical architecture, exuding a grandeur and luxury that aligns with five-star standards. The interiors are adorned with rich materials such as polished marbles, elaborate wood paneling, fine fabric wall finishes, and bespoke chandeliers, successfully creating a regal and impressive atmosphere. This opulent design not only fits the stature of the Ministry but is also crafted to leave a lasting impression on visiting foreign dignitaries, placing it on par with government offices in developed nations. The project reflects India's growing sophistication and its readiness to engage with global leaders in a space that embodies both tradition and modernity.
