Mementos by ITC Hotels, Ekaaya Udaipur, India

Udaipur, India

As a newly-unveiled brand by ITC, this super-luxury property promises a wonderfully unforgettable experience for the guest. The sprawling 60 acres of land, nestled amongst the Aravallis near Nathdwara's Shrinathji Temple, sets the stage for this premium getaway. Given the luxury of space, the built-density is low, orchestrating 117 villas in a wonderfully secluded manner, each with its slice of velvety lawns and lush tropical trees.

The architectural formalization follows a tropical path, embedded with modernized versions of vernacular elements and materiality plucked from a contemporary Asian aesthetic. Most materials have been sourced locally, the only exception being imported marble used in the all-day dining and public spaces. Guest rooms feature an interesting pyramidal roof and expansive granite-clad bathrooms. A large metallic spherical light fixture suspended from the pitched roof casts a beautiful shadow play when lit, creating a heady, romantic atmosphere.

Given the property looks seriously at destination weddings as a business vertical, the ballroom assumes great importance. The large space features an arched wooden ceiling bedecked with frosted, hand-blown chandeliers reminiscent of maces. Peacock-inspired motifs abound, evident in the striking carpet that sets the stage for high-end events. The spacious pre-function area opens into a large lawn, while the post-function offers a permanent fixed set-up for culinary delights. Featuring intricate flooring, high ceilings, and an outdoor deck, the large all-day multi-cuisine dining presents a delectable canvas for ITC’s fame in the culinary arts. The Udaipur property has proved incredibly successful, commanding a premium and quickly topping the list of preferred venues for destination weddings.
