This home in South Mumbai, designed for a prominent real estate developer, is rendered in a detailed, classical style, far removed from the prevailing modern/minimal aesthetic. A triplex occupying the penthouse levels of the family home, this upscale home enjoys remarkable views: on one side is the Haji Ali stretch with the Coastal Road development and the Arabian Sea beyond; on the other is the green expanse of the Mahalaxmi Race Course. Activities include a double-height living room, a massive dining area, a movie theatre, a spa treatment room, study rooms, meeting rooms, sprawling master bedrooms, a children’s room, a regular daily kitchen (industrial type), a show kitchen for occasional cooking by family members. and decks all around.

Materiality embraces the refined: richly patterned marbles, warm timbers, cut and fluted glass, leather and metals. Material applications are generous, with textural patterns and grains being allowed to fully display their beauty.
