Bobby Mukherrji Architects was tasked with designing the prestigious Vanijya Bhavan in New Delhi, the headquarters for India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, completed in 2022. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the firm was responsible for the design of the VIP floor, which houses key officials, including the Minister Commerce and Industry and the Minister of State. The firm also designed the conference and meeting rooms, intended for high-profile discussions with Indian and foreign delegates.
The design, a modern interpretation of Indian classical architecture, exudes grandeur and luxury, aligning with five-star standards. The 40,000 sq. ft. space is adorned with rich marbles, wood paneling, fabric wall finishes and chandeliers, creating a regal and impressive atmosphere. This luxurious design not only fits the stature of the ministry but is also crafted to leave a lasting impression on visiting foreign dignitaries, making it on par with government offices in developed countries. The project reflects India's sophistication and its readiness to engage with global leaders in a space that embodies both tradition and modernity.
