If three things matter in property — location, location and location — this quadruplex hits the bull’s eye. The four-storey penthouse stands close to the Arabian Sea, in upscale Bandstand, Bandra, and affords spectacular sea views. The client, a gregarious bachelor and a prominent real estate developer, loved white and the Miami Modernist style with its themes of glamour and fun. BMA responded to this brief by creating a snowy-white interior landscape tempered with touches of chrome for a heightened modern effect. A contiguous white marble flooring ties the narrative together.
The double-height living room, surrounded by a cinemascope-like unfolding of the city’s skyline with the sea in the background, flows into an outdoor deck, where a bespoke, glass-fronted whirlpool bath evokes an infinity edge pool, levitating and surreal. The home is replete with customised elements like this — notably the tailor-made chrome and white walk-in wardrobe. A spiral glass staircase and a glass capsule elevator connect all the four levels of the quadruplex. The crowning glory is the terrace garden and the atmospheric enclosed entertainment lounge complete with colour-changing lights and a permanent buffet set-up. Details such as an array of figurines and other collectibles from the Star Wars franchise reflect the client’s fondness for the American epic, as well as add a funky touch to the pristine, futuristic party space.
