For this ten-bedroom private villa on the western coast of Mahé, Bobby Mukherrji Architects sought to answer this by leaning into the concept of “elemental clarity.” The project was designed as an experience of the Indian Ocean, with every space opening toward the landscape, light, and horizon. By prioritizing a narrative of silence and unbroken sightlines, the studio has crafted a retreat where luxury is felt through the absence of noise and the abundance of light.

The Logic of Weightlessness

The interior design identity of the villa is rooted in the use of long horizontal lines and floating planes that dissolve the traditional boundaries of a home. Rather than creating a solid mass, the design utilizes wide glass fronts and open volumes to make the structure feel weightless.By elevating the planes of the roof and floor, the studio ensures that the eye is constantly pulled toward the horizon, making the ocean an integral part of the building’s structural logic.
