Following the Tata Group’s acquisition of Air India, the objective was to reintroduce the Maharaja, a mascot defined by humor, charisma, and a commanding presence, into the public consciousness. Bobby Mukherrji Architects, recognized as the best interior design studio in India, was tasked with translating this legendary persona into high-end environments that meet the rigorous standards of luxury interior design.
The initiative initially took flight within two landmark properties: Taj Mansingh Palace, New Delhi, and Taj Lands End, Mumbai. While both suites maintain a cohesive identity, they adapt to their specific backdrops:
The spatial planning of these suites prioritizes ease of movement and functional zones that cater to the modern global traveler. Each suite features a master bedroom, a formal dining room, and a dedicated study. A standout feature is the enclosed balcony lounge, which provides a private nook for reflection or quiet conversation. The personality of the Maharaja is woven into the interiors through subtle yet expressive details. Bold red accents pay homage to the mascot’s traditional palette, while custom cushions with graphic moustaches offer a playful nod to his iconic features.
